The aim of this study was to predict the educational engagement of female high school students in Khoy based on the level of self-determination and goal orientation that is done by correlation method. The statistical population of the present study consisted of all female high school students in Khoy who were studying in the academic year 1397-1397. From among the population, 352 students were selected using Krejcie and Morgan’s table and via multi-stage cluster sampling. Data collection instruments were Frederick et al.'s (2004) Academic Engagement Questionnaire, LaGuardia et al.’s (2000) Basic Psychological Needs Questionnaire, which is based on the theory of self-determination, and Elliott and McGregor’s (2001) Goal Orientation Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and simultaneous multiple regression analysis. The results showed that there was a relationship between self-determination and academic engagement. There was also a positive and significant relationship between academic engagement and the components of tendency dominance and tendency performance. Also, there is a direct and significant relationship between self-determination with the components of tendency dominance and orientation-oriented performance-orientation. The results of regression analyses showed that goal-orientation was a predictor of academic engagement.
