Background and Objectives: Teacher professional development (TPD) is a key factor in improving the quality of the education system, and previous studies have confirmed the role of school principals’ leadership styles and knowledge sharing in enhancing teachers’ performance and professional growth. However, a review of the related literature indicated that the simultaneous relationship among visionary leadership, knowledge sharing, and TPD has been less examined within a structural model. Accordingly, the present study aimed to investigate the effect of school principals’ visionary leadership on TPD with the mediating role of knowledge sharing. Methods: Adopting a descriptive-correlational research design, this study applied structural equation modeling (SEM) to examine the relationships among the study variables. The initial population consisted of all primary school teachers in Saqqez County (N = 901), from which 260 participants were selected through simple random sampling according to the sample size recommended by the Krejcie and Morgan table. Data were collected using the Visionary Leadership Questionnaire (Conger & Kanungo, 1998), Knowledge Sharing Questionnaire (Kim & Lee, 2013), and Professional Development Scale (Nava, 2008). The collected data were subsequently analyzed using LISREL software. Results: The findings revealed that both school principals’ visionary leadership and knowledge sharing had a significant positive effect on TPD. Furthermore, visionary leadership had a significant positive indirect effect on TPD through knowledge sharing, and the model fit indices confirmed the adequacy of the proposed model. Conclusion: The results suggest that strengthening visionary leadership among school principals and providing appropriate conditions for knowledge sharing could play an important role in enhancing TPD and improving the quality of the education system.
