Background and Objectives: Undoubtedly, one of the goals and responsibilities of education is to prepare students to enhance their entrepreneurial abilities, develop graduates’ skills, and understand the scientific developments of the future world. Considering the lack of independent qualitative research addressing the requirements and strategies of entrepreneurship education in primary schools, and the absence of consensus in previous studies, the present study aimed to identify the requirements and strategies of entrepreneurship education in elementary schools with an emphasis on the teachers’ professional roles.
Methods: The present study is applied in terms of its purpose and qualitative in terms of its nature and data. The participants of the study consisted of experts in entrepreneurship education and specialists in educational sciences. The participants were selected through purposive sampling based on the principle of theoretical saturation, resulting in 12 experts being interviewed. The research instrument included a semi-structured interview, designed based on themes concerning the requirements and strategies of entrepreneurship education in schools, with particular emphasis on teachers’ professional roles. The interview protocol was developed through initial in-depth interviews with experts. Subsequently, the data were coded and indicators were extracted. Finally, thematic analysis was conducted to classify the data into basic (initial), organizing, and overarching themes.
Findings: The coding output results showed that 114 semantic units (themes) were extracted. These codes were classified into four main themes: the requirements of entrepreneurship education trainers; curriculum requirements; requirements related to financing and allocation of funds and technology; The requirements of the entrepreneurial ecosystem were classified.
Conclusion: Education authorities should make the necessary plans to hold training workshops for teachers to familiarize them with entrepreneurial education in schools and to facilitate interaction between teachers and the real world of business.
