The purpose of this study was to analyze the barriers and drivers of literacy education in Hamadan Province with emphasis on the professional role of educators (cities of Kabudrahang, Asadabad, and Razan). This research is applied in terms of purpose and was conducted by mixed-methods research (qualitative-quantitative). The study population of questions 1 and 3 included illiterate people who did not apply for literacy (to check for barriers) and people who participated in literacy courses (to check for drivers). The study population for question 2 consisted of experts and individuals who had cooperated with literacy education in Hamadan province. The sample for interviewing illiterate people as well as people who participated in literacy courses, consisted of 30 people who were selected based on the purposive - snowball methods in the cities of Kabudrahang, Asadabad, and Razan. The second sample consisted of 8 specialists who validated the components and the final sample consisted of 45 illiterate people who did not apply for literacy classes and 45 people who participated in literacy courses, determined based on the G-Power sample size method. The data collection tools were taking notes, semi-structured interviews, and a researcher-made questionnaire. The data obtained were analyzed through Thematic Analysis, the CVR method, descriptive statistics, one-sample t-test, and Friedman test. The results of this study introduced 32 barriers and 29 drivers for the literacy course in Hamedan. In future planning, by using these barriers and drivers, it is possible to improve the quality of courses and the presence of literate students.
