Background and Objectives: The introduction of new technologies into the field of education led to the formation of new environments such as blended learning environments. Meanwhile, the element of instructional design in blended learning environments is considered to be one of the important and influential components. Therefore, the purpose of the current research is to explain the place of instructional design in the blended learning environment in today's era. Methods: This study was conducted based on a systematic review of PRISMA in 7 databases, i.e. Scopus, Eric, Web of Science, Springer, ScienceDirect, Wiley Online Library, and Taylor and Francis in July 1402. Based on the ethical criteria and strategies, from among 1446 related articles, 201 articles were selected and finally, after passing the considered criteria and screening and evaluating the concrete and POP scientometric software, 24 articles were selected to complete the in-depth research and analysis. Findings: The analysis of selected research, based on the desired criteria, approved the effective use of instructional design in blended learning to achieve educational goals. Also, the use of instructional design in blended learning facilitates learning, involvement in learning, activation, lifelong learning, interest, and responsibility of learners. Among the fundamental challenges of this environment are the lack of standardized educational software that facilitates comprehensive interaction across various dimensions, insufficient financial resources, and the absence of a cohesive supportive perspective. Conclusion: The results of the present study show that the element of instructional design is one of the vital elements of blended learning environments. Also, the analysis of selected studies, based on the desired criteria, approves the effective use of various instructional design patterns in blended learning environments to achieve educational goals at different levels of learning. Also, the type of approach that educators choose in instructional design in blended learning environments affects the degree of realization of various learning goals of learners.
