The Effect of Comprehensive Socio-Emotional Learning Program on the Self-Management of Student-Teachers of Farhangian University in East Azerbaijan

Abstract

There is ample evidence for the belief that the majority of learners’ problems are rooted in failing to attend to the learners’ socio-psychological capabilities, especially their Self Managemant. The purpose of the present study was determining the effect of social-emotional learning program on the Self Managemant of Farhangian in East Azerbaijan.The present study is a quasi-experimental research with pretest-posttest design and a control group. The statistical population of this research includes all male and female teachers in Farhangian University (Allameh Amini and Al-Zahra campuses in East Azarbaijan) with boys in 754 and 686 in girls. According to the research method, 140 students (two experimental and two control groups) were selected through random cluster sampling.The experimental groups trained a comprehensive social-emotional learning program in 5 sessions (1.5 hours) and control groups did not receive interventional. In order to collect the data on Self Managemant of the students, social-psychological eficiency questionnaire was used.The data was analyzed using one way Covariance. The results showed that comprehensive social-emotional learning program training had a significant effect on the Self Managemant of both male and female learners. There was no significant difference between the male and female teacher trainees in this regard.The results of the present study confirmed the effectiveness of social-emotional learning program training on the Self Managemant of teacher trainees.
