Abstract

The aim of the present study was to investigate the prediction of psychological well-being based on emotional intelligence and life satisfaction of male and female teachers. The statistical population of the study included all male and female primary school teachers in Zaveh city in the academic year of 1399, from among whom 180 primary school teachers were selected based on simple random sampling procedure. Due to the Corona virus pandemics, participants completed the Emotional Intelligences (Shot, 1998), Life Satisfaction (Diener at el, 1985) and Psychological Well-Being (Ryff, 1980) questionnaires via online channels. Pearson correlation coefficient and multivariate regression analysis were used to analyze the data through SPSS software version 24. The findings showed that there is a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and life satisfaction with psychological well-being. Emotional intelligence and life satisfaction have a significant role in predicting psychological well-being. They account for 31% of variation of psychological well-being in the male teachers and 42% of variation of psychological well-being in the female teachers. Also, the results of comparative analysis showed that in male teachers, emotional intelligence with 23% had a significant and positive contribution to psychological well-being, but in female teachers, emotional intelligence with 22% and life satisfaction of 20% had almost the same contribution to predict psychological well-being. The results of this study support the role of emotional intelligence in male teachers and emotional intelligence along with life satisfaction in female teachers, as an effective factor in predicting psychological well-being that can be a facilitating issue in providing practical suggestions in this area.
